Cast of New Film ‘The Gallerist’ Confirmed


MRC is set to independently finance The Gallerist, Cathy Yan’s new film starring the previously announced Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega.

The company also today officially confirmed the remaining cast for the film, which includes Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers), Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction), Emmy nominee Zach Galifianakis (Only Murders in the Building), Golden Globe nominee Daniel Brühl (The Franchise), Grammy nominee Charli xcx (I Want Your Sex), and Oscar and Tony winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (Wednesday).

Written by Yan (Birds of Prey) and James Pedersen (High Heat), the film follows a desperate gallerist who conspires to sell a dead body at Art Basel Miami. It’ll be produced by Ash Sarohia (The Little HoursThe Freshening) and Jonathan King (Green BookSpotlight) from Concordia Studio; Sophie Mas and Portman from MountainA (May DecemberAngel City); Tom McCarthy (SpotlightWin, Win) and Rae Baron (StillwaterAlaska Daily) from Slow Pony; and Zola Elgart Glassman (High HeatAlone Together). It’s in pre-production now and is set to shoot at the end of this year.

Currently, MRC is prepping Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Recently, the indie studio announced that its romantic drama All of You, starring Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots, will debut on Apple TV+ in 2025. Notable 2023 titles from the company included SaltburnAmerican Fiction, and Fair Play.

Randolph is repped by CAA and Fox Rothschild; Brown by JWM Entertainment Group, CAA, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Galifianakis by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes; Brühl by Gersh; Charli xcx by CAA; and Zeta-Jones by UTA. CAA Media Finance brokered the financing deal with MRC.
